Info (human version)

Name: Donald Fauntleroy Duck
Canon: Disney Duck Universe - Barks/Rosa comics

Background:
Donald was born in 1920 in Duckburg (Calisota, west coast USA), to Quackmore Duck and Hortense McDuck, alongside twin sister Della. Their parents ran the Scrooge McDuck estate, as Duckburg grew large during the roaring 20s, though he was partly raised on his grandmother's farm just outside the city. When Donald was a kid, he met his Uncle Scrooge for the first and only time of his childhood. After this ill-fated meeting, the family moved away from Duckburg. (Where to is unknown. Some time was likely spent at Castle McDuck in Scotland, but probably not the majority of his teenage years.)

In 1940, Donald became an uncle, as Della gave birth to the triplets Huey, Dewey and Louie. At age 21, he enlisted to fight in World War II, using some of his wages to help support his sister. Exactly how time he spent there is unknown, but he returned with PTSD and finally moved back to Duckburg, where his grandmother Elvira still lived. His parents were likely dead at this point, causing him to move back to his remaining family in Duckburg. His aunt Matilda still lived, moving back to Castle McDuck, and Donald kept in touch with her. His uncle Scrooge had at this point retired from public life, living as a recluse, and Donald had no contact with him.

Around 1946, when he was 26, the triplets came to live with him full-time, and he eventually gained custody of them as their sole guardian. It is likely they were sent to Donald because Della died - she was certainly dead by the time the triplets were nearing their teens. Meaning at age 26, Donald had lost both parents, his twin sister, had fought in a war, and was now raising three children on his own. Donald worked many different jobs to earn a living and provide his nephews with everything they needed, becoming a caring father-figure to them.

Christmas 1947, Scrooge McDuck invited Donald and the triplets over for dinner, and introduced them to his money. A short adventure later, and Scrooge un-retired to once again become a main figure in Duckburg. Donald often ended up working for his uncle. As the triplets become older, they grew from unhappy troublemakers to idealistic go-getters, and joining the Junior Woodchucks. As they reached their early teens, they and Donald would accompany Scrooge on journeys and adventures around the world.

Things/places they discovered or visited include: El Dorado, Xanadu, Kalevala, Atlantis, Shambala, Philosopher's Stone , Golden Fleece, Crown of Ghengis Kahn, Crown of the Crusader Kings, The Holy Grail (Donald used it as a bludgeoning weapon to save Scrooge and broke it), Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine, King Solomon's Mines, Mines of Ophir, Mines of the Incas, the last living Dinosaurs, and Treasury of Croesus. Also, travelling to the literal center of the earth, travelling far back in time (meeting King Arthur), and travelling far into space (meeting aliens). He generally doesn't brag about these things, because people never believe him.

Personality:
Donald is locally famous as a "top-blower". He has an incredible temper, inherited from his parents, but probably not made better from serving in the war and dealing with the aftermath of that. However, his temper is not the only emotion that runs high in him; He wears his heart on his sleeve and feels passionately. He'll often gain incredibly excitement for something - a new job or hobby - for a while, until he grows bored of it. The only thing he doesn't grow bored of is his strong affection for his nephews, and ice cream soda.

While he's definitely got a certain amount of vanity and pride, it's not frequently indulged. Frequent disparaging remarks from people around - usually about him being clumsy or useless - him keep him humble, probably much more than he deserves to be. (This is despite being well-known in Duckburg, as a descendant of the founder of Duckburg on his father's side, and the family that made Duckburg into the bustling metropolis it now is on his mother's side.) The grind and hardships of the world will often get him down, and he's generally not shown enough appreciation for the work he does. Thankfully, due to his changeable nature, these moments of depression will not last too long, and if they do, his nephews will do something for him to help him out of it.

Perhaps as a coping method for the aftermath of the war, and being a single "father" of three at such a young age, he often refuses to take things too seriously. He's got a surprisingly dry wit, and loves a good prank, as long as he isn't the victim of it. Sometimes situations also get so unlikely, mind-boggling, dangerous or traumatising that a sense of humour is his only defense. He's stared death in the face and laughed (literally, once), though most of the time he's got an appropriate amount of fear.

He's definitely also got a sense of adventure that leads him into these situations, but when he's out journeying with Scrooge and the nephews, he's usually the only sane man, funnily enough. He will fiercely protect his family, fighting pretty much anyone regardless of size - helped by his temper - and if he's ever called a coward, it certainly doesn't apply when his family's safety is on the line. Donald's not without greed or desire for fame and glory, but when he's with Scrooge, he's usually the person arguing against the value of it.

He enjoys cooking (and eating) good food, sailing, fishing, his perennial girlfriend Daisy, being shown appreciation, gardening, working on his car (which he built himself), exploring a new hobby, celebrating Christmas, and the occasional adventure. He dislikes bills (the money kind, not the duck kind), bad behavior from the triplets (playing hooky in particular), coming second, losing his temper, his uncle taking advantage of him, humiliation, being tricked, and anyone threatening, harming or treating his nephews unfairly.

Disabilities:
History of PTSD and sleepwalking, after the war. However, he rarely experiences significant problems from it these days. As for armchair psychology, he does meet plenty criteria for ADHD. After his recent change into a human, he might also have PDSD (post-duck stress disorder).

Special abilities:
Heightened retinal clarity (eye for extreme detail), but only on a subconscious level. (It's how he tells the triplets apart.) Has at some points had various super abilities, but none of them permanent. He's in general strong and fit, but not to supernatural levels.

Appearance:
Donald is an attractive duck-- err, human. He's in his early 30s, in good physical shape, and he's occasionally been a bit of a ladykiller, frequently described as handsome. He's not particularly tall, but he's well-built, and is almost always wearing his sailor uniform. He's got very light blonde hair, blue eyes, and a cheerful disposition. He's usually got pretty relaxed body language, unless he's feeling a particularly strong emotion, in which case it will be almost impossible not to tell what that emotion is. He's got a very open and expressive face and body language, and is generally not hard to read.
